About Me
Dr Ioannis Vallis is a dental surgeon based in Oxford with a special interest in Implant Dentistry.
He was born in Athens, Greece in 1978. He graduated from the Dental School of Semmelweiss Medical University of Budapest Hungary in 2003 with the degree of Doctor of Medical Dentistry (DMD).
His first involvement with Implant Dentistry was right after his graduation while working as an assistant surgeon in a Periodontal and Implant clinic in Athens, Greece. He served as a dentist in the Greek Armed Forces in the 106 Military Hospital Nicosia Cyprus in 2004.
In 2005 he moved to the UK, where parallel to his work as an associate dentist in Oxfordshire, he continued his training. In 2007 he enrolled at Warwick University Medical School as a postgraduate student. He graduated in 2010 with the degree of Master of Science in Implant Dentistry (MSc).
Dr Vallis has continuously evolved his restorative and implant dentistry by attending courses in the UK and abroad. At the moment he is providing restorative and implant dentistry in practices in Oxfordshire, Middlesex, West Midlands and Buckinghamshire. He is continuing his training in advanced restorative and implant dentistry while at the same time tutoring other colleagues in the placement and restoration of simple implant cases.
For many years Dr Vallis has enjoyed treating nervous patients and patients with dental phobia. Although in most cases a gentle, clear and reassuring approach is sufficient to alleviate dental stress, where necessary treatment under sedation can be provided. Dr Vallis was trained in IV sedation and with a team of qualified sedationists is currently providing a full range of dental treatments under conscious sedation.
Despite always having a special interest in Implant Dentistry and minor Oral Surgery, he continued to enjoy all aspects of general dentistry, including seeing young children.
My Services
Yeah, we really can do it all. We offer a full range of dental services & technology
Intra Oral scanner/digital dentistry
In addition to offering CBCT scans, our dental practice in Oxford also utilizes cutting-edge intraoral scanners and digital dentistry technology. Intraoral scanners are devices that use lasers or optical sensors to capture highly detailed 3D images of the inside of a patient’s mouth, including teeth, gums, and soft tissues. These images can then be used to create precise digital models of a patient’s teeth, which can be used for a variety of applications, such as designing and creating custom restorations like crowns and bridges. Digital dentistry also allows us to streamline our workflow, reduce treatment time, and improve patient outcomes by using advanced computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software. With digital dentistry, we can achieve a level of accuracy and precision that was previously impossible with traditional methods, while also providing our patients with a more comfortable and convenient dental experience.
CBCT
At our dental practice in Oxford, we offer CBCT scans as one of our key services. CBCT, or Cone Beam Computed Tomography, is a type of x-ray technology that produces 3D images of the teeth, jawbone, and surrounding tissues. These images are incredibly detailed and allow us to diagnose and plan treatment for a variety of dental conditions, including impacted teeth, TMJ disorders, and dental implants. CBCT scans are safe, non-invasive, and provide us with a wealth of information that would not be possible with traditional 2D x-rays. If you’re in need of a CBCT scan, our skilled and experienced team can provide you with the care and expertise you need to ensure optimal results.
Dental Implants
Dental implants are replacement tooth roots. Implants provide a strong foundation for fixed (permanent) or removable replacement teeth that are made to match your natural teeth.
General Dentistry
Regular visits to your general dentist are pivotal to ensuring your mouth, teeth and gums remain healthy. However, it’s estimated over a quarter of adults in the UK only visit their dentist when a problem arises. Why do so many people put off visiting their dentist? It’s not uncommon to be nervous or anxious when visiting the dentist. Many people are also concerned about the financial aspect of treatment and regular checkups.
Restorative and Cosmetic
Restorative dentistry refers to management and procedures that your dentist performs to keep your mouth healthy and functional. These procedures include putting in dental implants, dentures, fillings, and crowns.
Whereas restorative dentistry is primarily concerned with keeping mouths healthy and functioning, cosmetic dentistry is more focused on improving the look of your smile. While dentists always put the health of your mouth first, having cosmetic procedures done may not necessarily improve how well your mouth works as much as how it looks.
Nervous patients Treatment
Oral sedation is prescribed for relieving anxiety in the hours immediately before a dental appointment. Not only do these medications have a sedative effect they also have some degree of amnesic effect for most people. Patients remember little or nothing about their dental appointment.
IV Sedation treatment
IV sedation dentistry is the deepest form of conscious sedation available in a dental office setting. Your healthcare provider delivers sedative medications directly to your bloodstream through an IV line. During your procedure, your dentist monitors your heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen levels.
Minor Oral Surgery
Minor Oral Surgery is that branch of Dentistry that deals with extractions. These include simple extractions and difficult extractions such as impacted wisdom teeth, broken roots, retained roots and multiple teeth.
